Arrrgghhh…I called the ISP back this morning at the allocated time for an update on the DACS removal – to say I was anxious was a bit of an understatement, though the tension was a waste of time. The update was that there was ‘no update’ only that the DACS removal would now not even be reviewed until August 8th, which is another TEN DAYS!!! (more…)
The contracts arrived in the post today so it’s all getting closer now! There is so much paperwork to wade through, and it all seems terribly complicated. The solicitor says ‘read such and such a document carefully’ but frankly they might as well be written in Mandarin for all the sense they make with all the weirdo legal speak, e.g. hereby and hitherto subject therein but without prejudice to the generality thereof!! Anyway, we have basically figured out what they all mean but will just call to clarify a few points on Monday morning. Then we need to get them signed and witnessed and sent back, and all the conveyancing side of things is then done and dusted … it’ll just be the Broadband that we will still be waiting for then, and we can’t even get the next update on that situation until Tuesday morning. Let’s just hope they have good news for us when we ring. I guess there’s a very slim chance that we might be able to exchange/complete next week depending on the Broadband issue, but as we go on holiday on Friday, I very much doubt it. Ho Hum.
I have some good news and some bad news! Good news, the phone line has been activated and Broadband has been ordered. The bad news, the line has got DACS on it and the provision of Broadband will be delayed, and may yet still not be available at all. (more…)
This has been such a frustrating week and we have made what feels like hardly any progress. Having ordered a new BT phone line last Friday to try and resolve the Broadband issue, I received a text message on Wednesday this week to say that the line will be activated next Monday, 21st July. This feels like an absolute age to have to wait and will be 10 days after placing the initial order. It’s so frustrating. At the moment, it’s not actually holding the transaction up as the solicitors are still plugging away with the various conveyancing tasks that need to be done, but there may well come a time when the thing that is holding us up is this wretched Broadband, and then Mr P would no doubt start to get quite cross about the length of time it is all taking. Let’s hope we don’t get to that point shall we?
On the plus side, it’s almost the end of term 
Just when I thought things were looking good for Broadband – Satellite Broadband is not going to work. I checked out once more with the provider what I needed it for, and they confirmed that Satellite will not always work with VPNs. (more…)
