Chimney SweepFor all those fans of Mary Poppins, you may like to know that we had our own Dick van Dyke come visit Waterloo Farm today! Well, actually, not so much Dick van Dyke as Bob and David, and not so much ‘covered in soot’ as ‘not a spec of soot to be seen anywhere’! I haven’t had a chimney swept for quite a while but I was very impressed with the ‘technology’ employed these days – all high tec and shiny and not a small boy to be seen anywhere :) (more…)

Update – Last Week in August

It’s almost the end of August and I thought I’d do an update on things we’ve been doing over the last week or so.  Progress hasn’t been quite so fast since Nigel went back to work after the Bank Holiday (August 26th) as we have had limited time to get anything done, but we’re still making what we consider to be good progress, so that’s encouraging! First Visitors and Driveway Surprise

It was great this weekend to show our first visitors round our new home and also a surprise to see changes to the driveway! My Mum and Tam’s parents viewed the house, and I couldn’t help but wonder what my late Dad would have said…we were also a bit surprised to discover the front part of the drive ‘under construction’ by a load of heavy plant.

We’ve Got the Keys!!

There seems to be plenty of them, and they are officially ours now … what am I talking about? The keys to Waterloo Farm of course :) . We left our holiday at around 8.20am and drove straight back to The Farm (as it shall be known until it is officially ‘home’!!) arriving around lunch time. Mr P was meeting some insurance guy in ‘our kitchen’ and had some towels in the tumble dryer, so I think he was a little embarrassed, but we didn’t mind! (more…)
