Underfloor Heating (UFH) Manifold Installed

Underfloor Heating (UFH) ManifoldJust a quick post to say the underfloor heating manifold has been installed and the pipes are now under pressure ready for the floor screed to go down on Thursday!!

It feels like we are moving forward a bit quicker now. The reasons the pipes are put under pressure is to make sure that in the very unlikely scenario the pipes are nicked when the floor is being screed, the pressure will drop and water will shoot out!

Underfloor Heating Pipes Installed in Family RoomA great day today was seeing the underfloor heating (UFH) pipes installed and laid onto the Celotex. We went for a aluminium core UFH pipe (Multi layer composite Pert-Alu-Pert WRAS approved) to provide additional strength than just the Pert only pipes. In fact we opted for Wundapipe!

It has been fixed to the floor using a combination of staples and tracks to help achieve the desired spacing to provide the right amount of heat output.

Turning into a Building Site …

We knew it would happen sooner or later, but Waterloo Farm really is turning from a house that was lived in until quite recently, into a building site! It’s amazing how quickly the transformation has taken place really, and that’s without any official building works yet! Why the new ‘building site’ status? I hear you ask. Well, most of the ground floor carpets have been removed now in preparation for digging up all the floors for the underfloor heating (UFH) installation, and carpets, however dirty, certainly help to make a place feel more like a home. Can We Have Underfloor Heating?

Well in an attempt to answer that question we needed to dig a few exploratory holes, 7 inHole in the Snug - Liam Lambert total! To make things even more interesting, quite a few had to go through quite a bit of concrete. Thankfully Liam Lambert and his colleague Lee Hart from GSD Lambert and Sons were on hand with the heavy duty gear.

There is something slightly un-nerving about watching someone dig your floors up!
