New Oak Stairs

Oak StaircaseA major milestone arrived today when we took delivery of the oak stair case and galleried landing. Scary thing was it was in 77 different pieces!!

We now have the unenviable task of getting it all sealed before it gets fitted at the end of the week … I sense a lot of late nights coming up.

Building Works: Day 1 Stairs Removed

Stairs Front IntactPhew…what a day! I am amazed at just how much progress has been made in just 1 day! I am please to report:

  • The stairs are out and put away neatly ready to be chopped for firewood
  • The walls are down in the future ‘Kitchen/Family Room’ and all the rubble piled neatly on the drive ready for collection

To say I am pretty amazed that we achieved all of this in one day would be an under statement. Do I ache? Yes. Did it take a very long shower to remove all the dust and grime? Yes – ages. :)

Architect Plans are Imminent – Peter Snell

Basic 3D Model of GroundfloorWe have appointed an architect, Peter Snell, and had a couple of meetings to talk about our thoughts and plans.

Peter’s first advice was to get a set of measured plans done for the whole house, including elevations. These were completed a couple of weeks ago, and this week we should get our hands on the new plans that Peter has drawn up for us with our alterations in them!
