One of my jobs over the last weekend (apart from spending hours cutting the grass
) was to take up the carpet in the snug. It was already loose as it had been peeled back in order to dig the exploratory hole and fortunately came up pretty easily, along with the underlay. It was a bit of a job getting the gripper rods up as they had been well and truly hammered into the concrete floor, but once I’d finished and swept up a little (not much point doing too much as the floor will get ripped up entirely in the not-too-distant-future!), it all felt much cleaner somehow! Pretty silly thing to say about a room with a huge hole in the floor, bare clay walls (with some mould in places) and a grotty fireplace! (more…)

total! To make things even more interesting, quite a few had to go through quite a bit of concrete. Thankfully Liam Lambert and his colleague Lee Hart from GSD Lambert and Sons were on hand with the heavy duty gear.
There is something slightly un-nerving about watching someone dig your floors up!
