They do say that every renovation project goes through a very low stage, and I think we’re at that point now – at least I hope it is because surely it can’t get any worse!! We have just spent the weekend clearing up at The Farm after our builders left it in such a state last week. So far I have taken all things pretty much in my stride, but for the first time since the building works began, I actually shed a tear at the total devastation before me. I just did not know where to start with all the clearing up that needed to be done. Needless to say, the builders won’t be coming back on site. We did ‘get it together’ in the end and now the place looks much better, despite having to take up most of the Celotex (having just paid for it to be laid).
Fortunately for us, our neighbour, Trevor, has come charging in on his large horse to rescue us, and he will be coming onto site at the end of this week to continue with the remaining work. Clearly all this mess (both actual and figurative) puts our schedule back somewhat so it doesn’t look like we’ll be in by the end of Feb now … just something else to feel depressed about.
Anyway, onwards and upwards as they say – there’s nothing we can do except put the past behind us and get on with the job in hand as we are absolutely determined that this will be our dream home in the country even if it kills us … and it might just do that ….
