Stable Roof Cleared and Patched

Just wanted to recognise the fantastic efforts of my Father-in-Law Rick in helping clear the stable roof of all the growth and patching it up! It was a busy day, but we did get from covered to cleared.

As you can see, the weather changed quite dramatically through the day, and it does look a little forlorn now.

The Budget is Already Gone!!

Waterloo Farm - Outbuilding - May 2008Maybe that wasn’t such a good idea!! We had a builder come round to Waterloo Farm today (John the Builder!) to give us a rough estimate for some of the work we’d like to get done eventually if we can afford it. Well, about double our budget later and the upshot is none of the work is impossible, but just very messy, time consuming and expensive because of the age of the property. To start with, we asked about renovating the outbuilding which we intend to use as Nigel’s home office. It’s a fantastic old stable and tack room made of clay lump with a red pantile roof, but totally dilapidated, overgrown with plants and full to the brim of ’stuff’. (more…)

State of Shock – Walked the Land

Waterloo Farm - Rear SideWell I think we are both still in rather a state of shock! After our news this morning we were desperate to return for another visit, this time with our wellies on so that we could ‘walk around the land’. Fortunately someone was available to let us in, and with a quick spot of baby sitting from my Mum we returned to the Farm!
