What a Day!!

Good grief, what an afternoon/evening we’ve just had – we are both mentally exhausted and wonder if we’ve now blown our chances with Waterloo Farm. It all started with a phone call from the estate agent that went along these lines: “I have some good news and some bad news. Mr P (the owner of Waterloo Farm) likes you and would like you to have the house, including the outbuilding as part of the deal, BUT there’s a cash offer on the table and it’s a good one. What are you going to do about it?”.

He’s Gone Away!!

Well, the owner of Waterloo Farm has gone to France for the weekend, and the estate agent can’t get hold of him to ask him the question about the outbuilding and apparently there’s already another offer on the table although the ‘offerers’ (is there such a word?!?) have a property to sell, so we are at an advantage in that regard.  On the bright side, if they can’t get hold of the owner to ask him our question, they also can’t put the offer to him!!

Basically, if the outbuilding isn’t included we’re not interested so I guess we will just have to wait and see. Wonder exactly how long he’s away for …

Well I went to see Waterloo Farm today, and I must confess that I was not going with the expectation of being convinced. I just could not see how it was going to work.  I discovered this is not really the best attitude to go and see a house with.

Nigel was back from London last night so I arranged for us to go and see Waterloo Farm this morning. Before we went we spent a fair bit of time looking at the place on Google Earth. This has made him a little more cautious about the closeness of the barn.
