It’s almost the end of August and I thought I’d do an update on things we’ve been doing over the last week or so. Progress hasn’t been quite so fast since Nigel went back to work after the Bank Holiday (August 26th) as we have had limited time to get anything done, but we’re still making what we consider to be good progress, so that’s encouraging! Update – Last Week in August
Sunday, August 31st, 2008Week 2 Progress
Friday, June 13th, 2008This week has seen some more good progress with the purchase of Waterloo Farm and so far, it’s all going very smoothly! The valuation for the mortgage was carried out on Wednesday. Strangely enough, it was done by the same person who will be doing our survey so obviously our lender thought they’d use a local firm too
. In theory they should only have told us whether the valuation was approved or not, but in fact, since we have also instructed them to carry out the survey, the surveyor did say that he had agreed with the purchase price, so we’re OK in terms of getting money from our lender! (more…)

Maybe that wasn’t such a good idea!! We had a builder come round to Waterloo Farm today (John the Builder!) to give us a rough estimate for some of the work we’d like to get done eventually if we can afford it. Week 1 Progress
Friday, June 6th, 2008So, it’s been a week since we had our offer accepted on Waterloo Farm, and it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride to say the least! The weekend was actually quite depressing as the enormity of what we’re taking on suddenly hit us! We both spent a couple of days having major doubts about it all … is it the right location, there’s quite a bit of work to do and will our budget stretch that far, will it ultimately give us what we want in terms of accommodation and outside space, and so on and so on …
We Did It :)
Friday, May 30th, 2008Against all the odds, our offer on Waterloo Farm was accepted!!! I still can’t quite believe it! We offered less than the other people and we need a mortgage and they don’t, so it seems that Mr P does like us after all!!
