It is really exciting to report that the fence that divides up the land between us and the barn in front of the house has started to go up! It will be a combination of fence panels and post and rail fencing.

I am sure it will really change the ‘feel’ of the outside space, as for the first time we will get a chance to see what it will look like with the boundaries clearly defined and marked out. This then unlocks the next stage of work in terms of erecting a couple of sheds to help with storage, and also start some hedge row planting to act as wind breaks, screening and will be great for the wildlife.

Ditch Work – Preparing the Land

Mini DumperSince we have owned The Farm, one side of our land has a disused drainage ditch (a new one now runs behind it) and the ditch is not only deep in place, but has piles of rubbish hidden in forests of weeds and stinging nettles. Ironically, it is in this area that we are planning to have our vegetable patch, fruit cage and chicken run!

A Family Affair
