Eeekk! The Wildlife is striking back…from Rabbits, to Leaf Beetles and Roe Deer they are all having a go!!
More to follow when I have time to prep the pictures of mass destruction
OK, so you might think I am a little mad, but how cool is this Hedgehog House!
No more Mr & Mrs Spiky getting accidentally burned from hiding under bonfires in waiting, and there is even a little inspection hatch to keep an eye on your prickly visitors. I want a Hedgehog House!
Ok, that was a terrible title, but I just wanted to say we spotted our biggest wildlife visitors to Waterloo Farm yet, a pair of Roe Deer, Capreolus capreolus.
They were far too quick and startled to hang around for a picture, but as I hope to photograph as many species of wildlife as possible on the Farm, I can see a few early mornings out deer stalking with my camera.
Our super Wildlife book, Collins Complete Guide to British Wildlife, tells me that that they hang around in pairs, and can become quite bold with humans if they are not persecuted. So who knows, we may even end up with our very own Bambi!
I just wanted to highly recommend Collins Complete Guide to British Wildlife: A Photographic Guide to Every Common Species (Complete British Guides)
This books has so far managed to help me identify our Common Darter, Dragon Fly and also our Common Newts.
Well I got a bit of a shock the other evening! There I was lifting more of the pamment tiles when all of a sudden just where I was lifting I spotted what I thought was an old plastic toy animal. However, it was not there a second before. So I lifted it up only to find it was not plastic but real. My next assumption was that it was well and truly dead – then in blinked at me and I nearly dropped it in shock!
