You may recall I planted several hundred daffodil bulbs around the garden last Autumn which had been kindly donated by some friends. In particular I planted loads in our front bed (read about it here) hoping to have a great Springtime display. Despite the fact that the front bed has, at times, been like a quagmire over the winter (sooooo wet and boggy), the daffs have done surprisingly well and have indeed treated us to a really lovely view for several weeks. There are some that need digging up and replanting as they came up blind, but all-in-all they were a great success, so many thanks to Kate and Andrew for the sackful on bulbs!

How the Daffodils Turned Out!!
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus Rotundifolia) Planting
Friday, March 26th, 2010Following the driveway work we had done in December 2008, forming two new parking bays, we finally found an afternoon to plant the shrubs that we planned to use to cover up our neighbours garage. We were not sure what to use to start with, but in the end decided to continue the existing Laurel. Also Tammy spotted an advert in Cheapcycle for ‘dig-your-own’ Laurels in Wreningham.
Romantic Candlelit Bath?
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010What could be more romantic, a bath by candle light to soothe the stresses of the day away… I wish! No, the candles in our bathroom are actually the lights in our bathroom because we had the ceiling over-boarded and re-plastered, and now we don’t actually have any … errmm … electric lights in our bathroom!!
At first the kids thought it was a great novelty, now they just accept it. Looking forward to the clocks going forward
Now we just need to find an electrician to fit the new 12v down lighters.
The Plasterers Are Back!
Sunday, March 21st, 2010Gluttons for punishment and pushing ahead with our jobs for this year, the plasterers, Mortimer and Smith are back! We tried to be clever in the family bathroom and install some fire rated 12v downlighters in our existing bathroom ceiling. Unfortunately we wasted half a day of electrician’s money only to be told it could not be done. We therefore had no choice, we had to either rip the old ceiling down or overboard. Believe me, it was not a hard decision.
Carpenter and Cabinet Maker
Friday, March 19th, 2010We have a wall in the kitchen of various trades people’s business cards. It could almost be described as a seal of approval if you exist on that wall! Many have tried to get on, some have made it and stayed, some have sadly made it then dropped off … some don’t come close!
