Followers of the Waterloo Farm Blog will know that we have spent considerable effort remodelling the house to create a space which will one day be a ‘family room’ incorporating a kitchen, dining area and lounge. At the moment all that exists in the kitchen area are some pipes coming up through the concrete floor and various electrical cables coming down from the ceiling in preparation for what will one day be our new kitchen. Hopefully that day is not too far away as we have decided to start contacting some kitchen companies to talk about designs, costs, installations etc. One of the companies we contacted was Moben Kitchens, but I really wish we hadn’t bothered … (more…)

Thursday, November 12th, 2009Garden Transformation – Driveway Part 1
Monday, October 12th, 2009
This took place in the summer, but only just got round to blogging about it as we have been busy, busy! For some of you following the blog you will know that traditionally the parking for Waterloo Farm has been at the back of the property using a turning circle.
We are keen to provide parking at the front, and reserve the back just for garden. This would also provide us the ability to secure the back of the property and encourgae visitors to use the front door – something we are keen to do as following the renovation work we now have a welcoming and spacious entrance hall!
Wooden Hardwood Double Glazed Window for En-suite
Thursday, September 10th, 2009Finally (after rather a long wait!) our new double glazed wooden hardwood window for the en-suite has been fitted! Yay! Which means I we now have some natural daylight to add to the down lighters.
We had a tough time trying to choose the right window, as we knew we wanted hardwood, but did not know which type was best. Also, it needed to match in style and colour our new bi-folding Sunfold doors as well. In the end we chose Iroko hardwood which we got stained using Sikkens Cettol 2 application wood stain, which was also used on our doors and windows in the family room.
Solatube ‘Light Pipe Daylight Tube’ Thing Installation
Monday, September 7th, 2009A friend of mine reminded me the other day that we have never posted a blog about our Solatube ‘Light tubes’. So I thought it was high time I did!
A light tube is a way of getting natural daylight into a space where typically you might not have any windows. Due to the fact the Farm has been extended many times by the previous owners, the stair well and landing is almost landlocked, therefore we have installed and fitted 2 (third is waiting to be fitted) Solatube light pipes.
Our New Sunfold Bi-Folding Doors in Hardwood
Thursday, September 3rd, 2009We are very excited and proud to finally have our Sunfold bi-folding doors installed. This was always part of the ‘big picture/grand design’ for The Farm and they are simply awesome!
It was great to finally see the hoarding that we have lived with months get ripped away and finally reveal the views of the garden.
