The Dream becomes a Reality!

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

We really have done it - it’s quite hard to take it in and actually believe! We have waited sooo long for this and now it has happened. As Tammy wrote, it is almost quite surreal, especially as we are not even in Norfolk at all. (more…)

WE DID IT!!!

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

:) After 3 years of searching for the right house, we finally bought Waterloo Farm today - hooray!!To be honest, it all feels a little surreal, not helped by the fact that we’re actually on holiday and so haven’t even been able to go and fetch the keys! We got ‘the call’ at around 15.30 in the end to confirm that all the final bits of paperwork had been completed and the money had made it to Mr P, and that we were now the proud owners of our ‘dream home in the country’. The Final Countdown!!

I arranged for the transfer of the deposit/fees today so that should be with the solicitor by the end of play today, and our IFA is organising buildings insurance for us, although he has indicated that some of the quotes are a little ’scary’ because of the age and construction of the house - thank goodness it isn’t thatched too :)

Broadband has Entered the Building!!

Wooo Hooo!!! It works - Waterloo Farm can get ADSL Broadband!! What a huge relief, but what a nightmare and trauma it has been to get it, I think I have aged 10 years in the process! There is too much to write in full, but a short summary follows: (more…)

Week 9 - The Paperwork is Complete

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Well, we got the contracts signed and witnessed and posted off, and the solicitor should receive those tomorrow (Thursday 31st July), and then we’re off on holiday on Friday.  No idea when/if the Broadband issue is going to be resolved which is incredibly frustrating. I can’t believe we’ve come this far (and already spent a fair bit of money!) and there’s still a chance that we won’t be buying Waterloo Farm after all. Mostly I’m refusing to believe that would be the case but there is a part of me that can’t help but think about the possibility that we just won’t be able to get Broadband and that this will all have been a waste of time.
