Followers of the Waterloo Farm Blog will know that we have spent considerable effort remodelling the house to create a space which will one day be a ‘family room’ incorporating a kitchen, dining area and lounge. At the moment all that exists in the kitchen area are some pipes coming up through the concrete floor and various electrical cables coming down from the ceiling in preparation for what will one day be our new kitchen. Hopefully that day is not too far away as we have decided to start contacting some kitchen companies to talk about designs, costs, installations etc. One of the companies we contacted was Moben Kitchens, but I really wish we hadn’t bothered …
This is our experience of Moben Kitchens:
Last week: organised an appointment for a consultant to come this Monday evening to talk to us.
Monday afternoon: got a call to confirm the appointment. Unfortunately they had our appointment down as Tuesday evening although they admitted their fault and rearranged for Monday.
Monday evening: consultant due at 7.30pm … waited and waited but nobody turned up and nobody called to explain why.
Tuesday lunchtime: I rang Moben to find out what had happened and was told someone from the local branch where the consultant worked would ring me back ’straight away’. I waited an hour and a half but still no call back, so rang again – the branch manager was waiting to hear from the consultant why he hadn’t turned up on Monday and would call me back later with an explanation.
Wednesday evening: still had not heard back from Moben, 48 hours after missed appoinment.
Thursday morning: I rang Moben again to find out what was going on, was told there had been an administrative error and would I like a discount off a kitchen. Now frankly I think this is a load of old b****cks and I hate being fobbed off so have told Moben that I will not be spending my money on one of their kitchens despite promises of one of their ‘best designers’ and a discount.
Call me old fashioned but I’m a great believer in Customer Service and in this case I think you’ll agree there has not been any. Maybe I’m cutting my nose off to spite my face by refusing to have them come and do us a design, but if they can’t even organise a simple appointment and then a phone call to explain and apologise, and then fob me off with the ‘administrative error’ excuse, how can I have any confidence in their ability to design and install the ‘beautiful’ kitchen I have in my head. Yah boo sucks Moben Kitchens …
