One Man and His JCB! (Well two men actually)

Drain repairs from downpipeWe noticed soon after we had purchased Waterloo Farm that the downpipe from the existing kitchen was not actually taking the water away from the house, but it was just ‘appearing’ out of a brick in the house! We then discovered that the drain was totally blocked with mud and silt. We had hoped that a simple ‘rodding’ of the drain would fix it, but this proved impossible so we only had one choice, to dig it up! So on Saturday afternoon Liam and Lee were back, and very helpfully with a shiny JCB!

I was amazed how quickly the repair was completed. One minute we had a large trench in our drive, the next it had pipes in, then sand, and next it was gone. I was even allowed to have a go in the JCB, and the house is still standing! I was given the controls to do some grading. That’s a technical term for pulling the gravel back into the trench and levelling off. I must say it was great fun!

The JCB was put to very good use that afternoon, but I shall post more on that when I get a chance.
