Hot Air Balloon Rides Drop In!

Hot Air Balloon Carriage

The kids and I got rather a shock when it appeared that a hot air balloon had landed in the top paddock tonight! With the kids in their PJs, we pulled on some shoes and made a dash up the garden to investigate…

The balloon looked huge and was rapidly deflating as we lurched up the garden in a combination of rapidly pulled on foot-wear from wellies to flip-flops. It was upon reaching the gate to the top paddock that we were disappointed to see that in fact the balloon had landed on the field next door, Farmer Long’s.

However, having never been up-close and personal to a balloon basket (or carriage to be precise) we carried on up the paddock and hopped over the gate into the next field, which was all cut to stubble. Sadly the balloon was deflated and on the ground by the time we arrived, and the people who had enjoyed the ride were standing around … I was rather hoping for a glass of the reputed Champers on offer on landings, but none was making the rounds.

The basket was huge and the 15 ‘flyers’ (including the pilot)  had made the trip from Norwich to The Farm.

The balloon operators were ‘Broadland Balloons‘ and looking at their website they have been operating for sometime and you can even book flights online.

Who knows … maybe next time they will choose to land in our field!

Wow, what an awesome way to build links. ;-) Self promotion in flying form!

LOL – yes, they should do some kind of SMS service from ground-to-air so you can chat with the pilot as they are flying past! :)
