Well, we did not take a holiday this year due to credit crunch, not to mention the rather excessive costs associated with renovating Waterloo Farm! Also, we have some very good friends who are trying to persuade us to get into camping…hmmmm…what can I say!? So, we decided to spend a few nights camping in the back garden, using very sexy camping gear donated by the afore mentioned friends. Thanks guys!
Despite our misgivings we were pleasantly surprised at how much we did enjoy ourselves. (Maybe the cold mornings waking up under canvas have addled our memories!) Anyhow, respect is due to our friends for letting us use their camping gear.
It was great to be outside and not allow the kids in to play with ‘buttons’ for a few days. Also the whole sleeping under canvas does kind of have a warped sense of appeal, though the very cold (10 degrees) mornings did not!
However, we can at least say we have tried now! The kids had a great time, especially enjoying the camp fire and roasting marshmallows on forks. Hmmm…they were delicious. Though the ones that caught fire were definitely over done!
We cooked and boiled very slow cups of tea outside…though we did sneak indoors for showers and the loo! I would definitely like to do it again, though still within the confines of the garden and close to home!
