To move or not to move that is the question. No, not us, but our electricity meter and consumer unit!
At the moment the rather unattractive pair are causing us a problem in terms of taking walls down, as one is sitting firmly on a wall that we hoped would not be there in the future.
We spoke to Terry from Allan R. Cross and Son Electrical Contractors in Wymondham, who popped over to offer some advice. Allan Cross had done quite a few bits of work on Waterloo Farm over the years so they seemed a good place to start.
We were advised to move the meter outside, and then shift the consumer unit onto the meter spot. However, trying to organise getting the meter moved has been a nightmare. At the moment I have given up as Distributors don’t speak to Suppliers who in turn don’t speak to the Meter people. They all have said it is the other persons responsibility and quite frankly I give up. The bottom line appeared to be we needed a site survey to be done first, but that would take about 12 to 14 weeks! We just don’t have that benefit of time, so we are going to have to think laterally, and discuss with an architect if we have some other alternatives. Quite frankly it is shocking! (Sorry could not resist the pun
