Against all the odds, our offer on Waterloo Farm was accepted!!! I still can’t quite believe it! We offered less than the other people and we need a mortgage and they don’t, so it seems that Mr P does like us after all!!
Nigel had the day off work as it’s half-term, so we decided to go out for the morning, feeling rather despondent after all the shenanigans of yesterday, but I think we were both quietly resigned to the fact that we’d lost out again, and this obviously wasn’t ‘the one’ after all. On our way home after lunch, the mobile went and it was a call to say that our offer had been accepted – we couldn’t believe it!! We’re absolutely amazed! So, not only did we get the outbuildings including in the purchase! I’m still not absolutely convinced we’re going to have anywhere near enough money to make all the improvements we have in mind, but as it is a long-term home, we’ll have plenty of time to worry about that! For now we’re just really, really chuffed … although - not wanted to sound too cynical – there’s a long way to go before completion, and all manner of things that could still scupper our plans, so we’re also very realistic. I think that’s what the last few years have done to us, taken away our ‘passion’ and left us feeling cynical and bitter about house buying … maybe this will be the house to change those feelings!
