Staircase Completion

We have a wall in the kitchen of various trades people’s business cards. It could almost be described as a seal of approval if you exist on that wall! Many have tried to get on, some have made it and stayed, some have sadly made it then dropped off … some don’t come close! ;)

But we are pleased to add Gary Hood (Carpenter) and Ashley Harrison (Cabinet Maker), both local to South Norfolk. If you have any general carpentry or bespoke cabinets or wooden furniture required, please go give them a call.

Anyway, we needed to get the built-in cupboards re-built, and having had the backs plastered out, now was the time. Gary ripped out the old cupboards and essentially started again. The doors also had to be cut to match after we reduced the width of the room during the renovation work.

Ashley had the fun task of completing the staircase. Since we have moved in we have had a piece of apron (the wood around the base of the spindles) missing, and also due to a cock up with the stairs, a half-newel post missing. We needed to turn a cock up into a success, and Ashley has done just that! The stair look just the business now. We have one more step left to complete which is to fit the hand rail and also fit some single floor level LED lights to the right of the string (the bit that holds the treads and risers (steps!)) together.

Just in case you were wondering, yes we do live in this house!
