Gluttons for punishment and pushing ahead with our jobs for this year, the plasterers, Mortimer and Smith are back! We tried to be clever in the family bathroom and install some fire rated 12v downlighters in our existing bathroom ceiling. Unfortunately we wasted half a day of electrician’s money only to be told it could not be done. We therefore had no choice, we had to either rip the old ceiling down or overboard. Believe me, it was not a hard decision.
So the boys were back screwing plasterboard sheets over the old ceiling into the ceiling joists. This is then skimmed over. Large holes are made in the reed and plaster so the lights can then be safely fitted directly in the new plasterboard ceiling.
At the same time, now that the cupboards in the middle bedroom have been re-created, and the missing apron added back onto the stairs, we got those plastered at the same time.
For the first time since we moved in, the cupboards can now be used as they were intended!
