Following the driveway work we had done in December 2008, forming two new parking bays, we finally found an afternoon to plant the shrubs that we planned to use to cover up our neighbours garage. We were not sure what to use to start with, but in the end decided to continue the existing Laurel. Also Tammy spotted an advert in Cheapcycle for ‘dig-your-own’ Laurels in Wreningham.
So last month found a sunny afternoon and cleared back an over-grown conifer, and I painstakingly removed the thick wire mesh from the fence, resorting to an angle grinder in the end! We then removed the hardcore that was pushed quite close to the edge, and added some more top soil to raise the level.
A quick trip to Wreningham a few weeks ago and I dug up some healthy and cheap Laurels, which we quickly planted, mulched and watered in. Now we can look forward to hopefully watching them grow, and the next 20 years pruning them back when they try to take over!
