The second fix electrics and plumbing are now in full swing and things are really starting to take shape, which is just as well because we move in in NINE DAYS time!! The place feels marginally less like a building site and more like somewhere you could call ‘home’ with a little imagination!
A big step for me was the light festoon coming down so we now have individual lights in each room working off the correct switches, so we no longer have the situation where ALL the lights are either on or off on a single switch, and we also don’t have to keep dodging around the festoon. We also have some sockets working so don’t have to run everything off extension leads! Still trying to get my head round the many and various light switches and what they all do, where they are 2-way switches, where they are dimmable etc, but it is now so much more logical and user-friendly than it ever was when we first bought the place. It’s just so nice to be buying light fittings and radiators - spending money on something we can see and touch, that is tangible, rather than stuff that is either hidden in the ceiling or floor or even underground!
