Woo hoo! We have finished planting all of the Willows. In total there were 198!
In theory this means we should (in 5 years!) have our first seasoned wood to burn. Who knows, by then we might even have a wood burner or two to burn it in
We now need to care for the new trees by ’stapling’ some mulch mats around the base of every tree to hold back weeds etc which will compete for the water. To do this we have bought 200m of 2.5mm soft wire which we are cutting into 50cm strips. We then bend each strip into a giant staple to hold the mats in place.
So while the trees may be planted…we have not quite finished yet. I hope all of this effort is worth it!
